ABOUT COVENTRY:
Her-story
Coventry
Creations was started in 1992, on a budget of $100.00. It
was on Jacki Smith's kitchen stove that the original Blessed
Herbal Candles were born.
Jacki
had been studying Herbalism, Theology, Ancient Religions and
New Age Philosophies when the idea of the Herbal Candles came
about. She created the recipies, made the candles, and then
gave them out as holiday gifts to her family and friends.
Personalizing
each candle to the individual needs of her loved ones, Jacki
created the first Blessed Herbal Candles; prosperity, family,
love, meditation, etc. Immediatly she heard stories of the
success of the candles and how everyone wanted more. Encouraged
to offer them for sale, Jacki finished the original 18 recipies
and Coventry was born.
Jacki
chose the name Coventry for its meaning of a gathering place.
It is her intention for the Coventry products to be a gathering
of beliefs, traditions and philosphies that revolve around
self-empowerment.
Since
'92, Coventry has experienced steady growth through word of
mouth and repeat business. The Blessed Herbal Candles have
become the standard of blessing/spell/magical candles in the
New Age Industry. Going from her basment of her Detroit home
to several larger locations over the years, Jacki has been
able to expand coventry to include other candle lines and
accessories. Many evolutions of the Blessed Herbal candle
have surfaces through other companies, solidifying the market
for spiritual purpose candles.
Currently
Coventry offers over 15 product lines and counting. As of
January 2002, Coventry Products can be found in all 50 states
and 5 countries. We have been featured on QVC and HSN cable
channels, as well as creating dozens of private label products.
Jacki
keeps the spiritual purposes and integrity of her products
as the number one concern, always monitoring the next step
in our spiritual evolution, and creating tools to ease the
transition.
Growing
Concerns
As
with any small yet growing Company, Coventry has gone through
many changes. What would life be without the ups and downs
of trials, tribulations and immense successes.
The journey would have not been as enjoyable without the unbreakable
bond of sisterhood Jacki & Patty have enjoyed. Patty
Shaw's unfailing patience and confidence, combining with Jacki's
drive and courage blossomed into a creative team that is equal
to infinitely more than the sum of thier parts. Every day
we are working on thenext evolutionalry step of our company.We

Quality Ingredients
Coventry candles are made with high quality ingredients that are standard to
the candle manufacturing industry. Each ingredient is chosen for its quality
and effectiveness in manufacturing and consumption.
Wax:
We use a paraffin wax that has the lowest crude content for it’s melting point. We chose this wax for it’s consistency in mottling, it’s reaction to fragrance and it’s burn quality.
Our wax is food grade paraffin with a crude content of less than .03%.
Although every candle will give off a little smoke, our candles have a burn cleaner than most paraffin candles on the market.
We chose paraffin for our wax due to price point, ease in handling and
environmental concerns. Paraffin is a by-product of the oil industry that if not used in various industries would end up in the environment. We have researched studies by the FDA, EPA and other independent sources and have found there is little discernable difference in the environmental impact of paraffin compared to other waxes.
Scent:
Our candles are scented with a combination of cosmetic grade fragrance oils
and medicinal grade essential oils. Our fragrance oils come from a
manufacturer that blends a high percentage of essential oils with synthetic to
create the fragrances. We use this combination to create a candle that has a
generous scent without being overpowering while on the shelf and when lit.
Cold Throw – The scent being emitted while on the shelf is called a cold throw. This is where the fragrance oils are crucial. Essential oils will evaporate off of the surface of the candle; fragrance oils will hold their scent making the candle smell yummy while it is waiting to be purchased.
If the candle starts to loose it’s scent on the shelf, rub the bottom with your finger (slightly warming the surface) and the scent will return. This is a sign of candle made with essential oils.
Warm Throw – This is the scent being emitted with the candle is lit. Essential oils have a strong warm throw, and give the lit candle scent a fuller body. Essential oils are volatile at 150 degrees, where their evaporation will scent a wider square foot area. Our scent blends are designed to give a subtle fragrance that I have seen fill an 800 sq foot area. We want the scent to gently touch the ole factory senses to stimulate positive emotional responses. Strong, highly scented candles can have the opposite reaction by irritating and overpowering the senses.
Wicks:
We use wax coated cotton wicks in all of our candles. The votives have a zinc core center. All of my research on zinc core wicks has confirmed that there is no health risk to using them. Lead core wicks hold the health concerns and are not even available in the US for manufacturing. As stated above, all candles will give off some smoke. That smoke is a combination of the fragrance, wax and wick being burnt. It goes along with the old saying, “Where there is smoke, there is fire” and vice versa.
Dripping of Candles:
The Blessed Herbal Candles are designed to drip. When we first made the BHC, it puddled down quite a bit. After a few years of experimenting we redesigned the candle have a perfect no-drip burn. WOW did we get complaints from our customers! They wanted the drip. It made them feel the magic was working and that they had a truly blessed candle. We found a happy medium with a slight drip that increases as the candle burns down. The votives are also a drip candle and are best used with a votive holder.
All of our other candles are designed not to drip, but with everything, results may vary. You will typically find they “flower”, leaving a thin shell of wax that rolls back as the candle burns. We have found through our own use and reports from our customers that each candle burns differently. Other than a difference in density of the oil blends we use, my only other explanation is purely energetic. Each candle creates a spiritual experience being effected by your emotions and need.
Environmental and Health Points:
Don’t eat the candles. As with any candle, caution and common sense apply. If you burn candles constantly you will get some soot on your ceiling. If you light a large centerpiece of candles close together, their combined heat will make them burn faster and drip.

Distribution Center.
- UPS is
our standard carrier, but we may use Fedex, Bax or other carriers if it can increase your savings. We cannot ship to PO or APO boxes.
- Customers willing
to drive to our Distribution Center are able to pickup orders. Pickup
is an available option as a shipping method.
- Please allow the
same 2-3 business day processing time for availability of pickup orders.
- Our business hours
are from Monday - Friday, 8:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

Information
We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American
Express) for online orders.
We also accept PayPal and money orders, but those orders need to be placed

Terms
